Buildings can meet every regulation and still fall short, they are not wrong, but we want to be proud of what we build.
In early 2012, driven by a desire to focus on classical architecture and to do things differently, Portico Stone was formed. The vision was clear: to design, supply, manage, and build truly beautiful stone buildings, without any compromise.
Before its formation, Gary Williams, founder of Portico Stone spent many years in the industry, learning from some of the most accomplished professionals in the field.
“I consider myself privileged to work in an industry where I get to design and build buildings that I love,” says Gary. “I was incredibly fortunate to work alongside outstanding technical and operational people at both Szerelmey and Vetter GmbH where they guided & nurtured me through this ancient and remarkable industry.”
As owner, Gary remains personally involved on site, in factories, and alongside the skilled teams who bring each project to life. The company operates with a family mindset: looking after one another, working safely, and ensuring exceptional outcomes for clients.
Rather than accepting traditional construction norms, at Portico Stone we developed alternative methodologies that reduce handling, improve safety, increase efficiency, and elevate quality.
These methods are not about rejecting tradition, but about refining it, respecting the craft while embracing smarter ways of working.
Today, those methodologies have been proven time and time again. The results speak for themselves: outstanding quality, efficient delivery, and well-paid, safe teams who take pride in their work.
“It’s personal,” Gary says. “If I can’t be significantly involved, I’d rather not undertake the work.”
